Sikh Gold Pendants
The Sanjeev Guide to Sikh Gold Jewellery
Southall has been home to one of Britain's largest Sikh communities for as long as we have been trading here, and a sikh gold pendant is among the pieces we are asked for most consistently. We make them in 22ct gold at our own bench, and we make them with the seriousness the emblem deserves. The Khanda gold pendant is the design that leads the collection: the double edged sword at the centre, the chakkar around it, the two kirpans crossed beneath. We craft it in single tone, in two tone where rhodium is set against the yellow gold to draw out each element, and in diamond cut finishes that catch light along the edges. A Guru Nanak gold pendant carries a different weight again, and those commissions are frequently made for a specific family occasion rather than bought from a tray. These pendants mark births, birthdays, amrit and anniversaries. They are given to children and worn for a lifetime, which is why gauge and bail strength matter as much as the face of the piece. If your family holds to a particular form or proportion, bring a photograph. We would far rather make it properly than sell you something approximate.
