Hindu Gold Pendants
The Sanjeev Guide to Devotional Gold Jewellery
A hindu gold pendant is rarely bought casually. It marks a birth, a wedding, a move to a new home, a birthday that meant something, and it is often the first piece of gold a child is given. We make ours in 22ct gold at our own bench in Southall, and we make them slowly. Ganesha is the design we are asked for most, and we craft it in floral, halo, flowing and enamelled forms because no two families picture it quite the same way. Lakshmi comes with the sacred trident. Balaji, Radha Krishna, Om, the Shree and Rudraksha each have their own following. Many are set with cubic zirconia or worked with coloured enamel, which lifts the detail of a deity form in a way plain gold cannot. Choosing on someone else's behalf can be daunting, and we would rather talk it through than have you guess. Ganesha is traditionally associated with beginnings and the clearing of obstacles. Lakshmi with prosperity and wellbeing. These associations shift between regions and families, and we never assume. If the form your family holds to is not here, bring a photograph or an older piece and our goldsmiths will make it properly.
